Snow Chic Is No Chic!

I am sure that county councils across the land and the Government for that matter, have heaved a huge sigh of relief that the ice and snow has finally thawed and slid down a grate or gutter somewhere near you.

As pretty as the snow is to look at, it is not pretty to walk on, skid or fall on. And with that thought, I have realised that snow is simply not chic!

What do you wear on a snowy day? If you are not at work, it’s easy. Skinny jeans, OTK boots, a big warm coat and enough woollen hats, scarves and mittens to furnish an Accessorize store.

If you are at work then it’s a whole new problem.

It’s sensible boots to walk to the car, scrape two inches of ice off then drive, or slither, to work. Then it’s a precarious walk, dependent on the grit and salt availability, from the car park into your building – which may or may not have the heating working.

There are just too many things to think about when it snows. A change of shoes, enough layers to keep you warm but not so you look like the Michelin Tyre Man and the obvious horror of falling over.

So it was with great delight that I traveled to work this morning wearing a green scoop neck jumper courtesy of John Smedley and my favourite black pencil skirt from Jigsaw Sartorial bliss and ease!

Let’s hope the cold spell is over!
